Arthur Henry Knauer, age 91, of Califon, NJ died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Little Brook Nursing Home of Califon, NJ. Mr. Knauer was born July 22, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late August Carl and the late Henrietta (Mueller) Knauer. Arthur was also predeceased by his wife Helen and wife Henrietta; 2 brothers George and Charles.
He served in the US Navy during the WWII war from 07/23/1942 to 12/10/1945. He was employed by Linden Chlorine Products, Linden, NJ in there Maintenance Dept. for several years, prior to that he owned and operated with his brother the Cranford Delicatessen.
Arthur had a love of carpentry and enjoyed building and fixing things. He was best known for helping others, he loved spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter; Jean Bowers, 2 sons; Daniel A. Knauer and wife Dorothea, Edward Knauer; 1 Brother; Howard Knauer and wife Mary; 4 grandchildren; Danielle, Laura, Chelsea, Elijah; 8 great grandchildren; Emily, Nathan, Justin, Livia, Izaiah, Nina, Nicholas and Christian. Several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery, 1100 E. Broad Street, Westfield, NJ on Monday, November 5 at 11:00 am.
