Charles "Chip" O'Connor, of Mansfield Township, NJ passed away at the age of 66 Monday, January 7, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.

Chip, as he was affectionately known, was married to Eileen O'Connor and resided in Mansfield Township.  Born in Bayonne, NJ., Chip was raised on Bertrand's Island in Lake Hopatcong.  He enjoyed many of the activities that living by the lake provided, particularly boat racing.  He was an avid car enthusiast and a seasoned hunter.  Chip loved to travel and share stories from his adventures in Alaska.  In his later years, nothing gave him more enoyment than his grandchildren. He worked many years in the construction field before becoming a Construction Official. 

Survived by his spouse: Eileen O'Connor, sons, Sean and wife Melanie, Apopka, FL; Brian  Giovati, Greer, SC;  daughter Kim O'Connor of Pennsylvania; step-sons, Andrew Kmec and wife Dana,  Stanhope, NJ; Brian Kmec and wife Shanna , Billings, MT.; Chip left behind eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Also survived by six siblings, Robert J. O’Connor, Jr. and wife Lois, Mt. Arlington, NJ; Richard O’Connor and wife Debra,  Mt. Arlington, NJ; James O’Connor, Stanhope,  NJ;  William O’Connor and wife Carolyn, Hopatcong, NJ;  Elizabeth  O'Connor and Kathleen O’Connor, Mt. Arlington, NJ; as well as sixteen cherished nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his father, Robert J. O'Connor, Sr. in 1979 and mother, Stella Keating O'Connor in 1989.

The famly will be receiving those who wish to express their condolences  at the  Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, (Rt. 517) Hackettstown, N.J. with visitation and services on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:15 AM.  Interment will immediately follow at the  Stanhope Union Cemetery, Stanhope, NJ.
