Harry was born and raised in Paterson, NJ, the third son of Albert and Charlotte Stueber Hoffmann. He graduated Central High School in 1953 where he was elected student body president and went on to earn an Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1957 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall in 1964. He married LaNelle Follett on October 6, 1962 and they made their home in Skyline Lakes, Ringwood, NJ, where they welcomed their boys, eventually moving to the then rural community of Schooley’s Mountain, NJ, in the summer of 1973. He worked primarily as a Technical Writer and Form Analyst, finishing his career at TyCom (an undersea fiber optic cable system construction company), working proudly alongside his son, Brett.
Harry was a devoted husband to his wife, LaNelle; her “tireless problem-solver” as she liked to call him. He was a wonderful father not only to his boys, but also to so many of their close friends. Everyone knew him as “Dad” and sought his wise counsel. He was an accomplished cook who truly loved to prepare large meals for as many hungry guests as his house could hold. He was also an avid sports fan, always rooting for his NY Giants and Yankees and enjoying the games with his sons and their friends. Harry was a champion chess player who delighted in teaching the game as much as playing it. But what he loved most of all was hunting with his sons, which he did for many years throughout northern NJ, and then taking endless pleasure in regaling others with stories of their exploits and adventures afield. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
