Harry W. Hoffmann
Died: May 14, 2018
Hoffmann

.Harry William Hoffmann of Saylorsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2018 at the age of 82.  Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, LaNelle, their three loving sons, Brett and his wife Jennifer, Glenn and his wife Jewel, Todd and his girlfriend Melissa, one grandson, Jeremy and two grand nieces, Cori Cheney Broderick and Tammi Dion.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Charlotte Stueber Hoffmann, two older brothers, Edward and Albert Hoffmann, and by his niece Patricia Cheney.

Harry was born and raised in Paterson, NJ, the third son of Albert and Charlotte Stueber Hoffmann.  He graduated Central High School in 1953 where he was elected student body president and went on to earn an Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1957 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall in 1964.  He married LaNelle Follett on October 6, 1962 and they made their home in Skyline Lakes, Ringwood, NJ, where they welcomed their boys, eventually moving to the then rural community of Schooley’s Mountain, NJ, in the summer of 1973.  He worked primarily as a Technical Writer and Form Analyst, finishing his career at TyCom (an undersea fiber optic cable system construction company), working proudly alongside his son, Brett.

Harry was a devoted husband to his wife, LaNelle; her “tireless problem-solver” as she liked to call him.  He was a wonderful father not only to his boys, but also to so many of their close friends.  Everyone knew him as “Dad” and sought his wise counsel.  He was an accomplished cook who truly loved to prepare large meals for as many hungry guests as his house could hold.  He was also an avid sports fan, always rooting for his NY Giants and Yankees and enjoying the games with his sons and their friends.  Harry was a champion chess player who delighted in teaching the game as much as playing it.  But what he loved most of all was hunting with his sons, which he did for many years throughout northern NJ, and then taking endless pleasure in regaling others with stories of their exploits and adventures afield.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The funeral service will be held 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 19 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.  Cremation is private.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

For those desiring donation may be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Harry
