Doris Louise Bozzuffi
Died: Mar 18, 2013
Doris Louise Bozzuffi, 89, passed away March 18, 2013 at her home in Belvidere, NJ surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in Passaic, NJ on the Fourth of July 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Franzoni) Perini and the wife of John Bozzuffi who died in 2001.
Doris was raised in Clifton, NJ and at the age of 16 moved to Blairstown, NJ. She was a 1939 graduate of Blairstown High School and served as Senior Class President. Doris played piano for choral functions and briefly attended the Juilliard School in New York City where she studied music. In the early 1940's, Doris drove the Book Mobile for the Warren County Public Library. Married in 1947, she and John settled in Hackettstown where they raised five children. While there, she was employed by M & M/Mars working in the customer service department. Upon John's retirement, they moved to a farm in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Doris' passion for gardening was manifested by the rainbow of colorful flowers which surrounded their homestead from spring through fall. They returned to New Jersey in 2001 and upon John's death, she moved to the Belvidere area. Doris was a woman of great compassion and a long time friend to many. Her generosity was on display for anyone who crossed her threshold. She loved the theater, travel, a good historical novel, long walks and especially chocolate. She was an excellent seamstress, knitter and in later years, learned to weave on the treadle loom. What gave her the greatest joy were the times spent in her kitchen teaching her grandchildren to prepare the dishes of her ancestral village in northern Italy. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten by her loving family and many friends.
Doris was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a former parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Hackettstown. She served as President of the Fiber Guild in Bradford County. Doris and her neighbors in Belvidere volunteered as lunch providers for workers at Habitat for Humanity.
Doris is survived by her two sons, Victor Bozzuffi of Hackettstown, and Jack Bozzuffi and his wife, Eileen of Oxford, daughters Susan Horn and husband Ronald of Oxford, Margaret Joseph and husband Frank of Belvidere, and Liza Thomas and husband Joe of Belvidere; six grandchildren, Emilia, Ethan, Kara, Matthew, Julian and Dane and one great grandchild, Evan. She is also survived by a brother, Rudolph Perini and wife Joan of Chatham, NY. She was predeceased by her brothes Claude and Jack Perini.
A Mass will be held in her honor at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich St., Belvidere, NJ at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Offer on line condolences at www.cochranfuneral.com Burial will be held privately at a later date.
Doris has requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the NJ Commissioon for the Blind, an organization she held in high regard for assisting her father who had succumbed to blindness in the latter years of his life. They can be contacted at 153 Halsey St., Newark, NJ 07101.
Arrangements are by Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840

To Doris' Children....It's hard to understand why people are taken from us. But, hopefully, you will be able to find comfort in knowing that you were a very special part of a very special lady's life. Her caring and compassionate nature coupled with her sense of humor will surely be missed. Though the times that I shared with your Mom were not frequent, they are memories which I will treasure. Please know that you, your families and your Mom are in my thoughts and prayers.

Please except my deepest sympathy. One of my greatest loses was my parents, they are irreplacable. Thank God for time spent with them and the memories we have of them.
I remember how your mom made delisious lunches for the Saturday crew. Gone but not forgotten. Blessings, Darleen

We only got to know Doris this past year during the engagement and wedding of Ethan to our daughter Jessica. She was a remarkable lady who seemed so vibrant. She and my mother (same age) got on very well at the wedding. Living well as she did shows in her accomplishments. Meeting the rest of her family speaks volumes to her character. Our thoughts are with all.
