Michael Albert Habermann, age 90, of Allamuchy Twp, NJ died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, N.J.. Michael was born July 16, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ. He is the son of the late Michael Anthony and Isabella (Noble) Habermann.
He was a distinguished Alumnus of Blair Academy where he graduated in 1941.
He served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He served with the 9th Infantry Division in Normandy, France. He earned an EAME Campaign Ribbon during his time of service.
After he served in WWII, he went on to graduate from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service in 1947, and returned to France where he met his wife, the late Marguerite Deysson. He was a businessman with Eutectic Castolin, Mexico, where he was able to travel with his career through Canada and Central America.

Upon his retirement, he continued to enjoy traveling throughout Mexico, Central America and Europe. His interests included Mayan and Meso-American civilizations, the cave art of Europe, 19th Century French literature, opera and classical music.
He is survived by three sons: Peter Habermann, of NJ, Michael Habermann of MD and Jack Habermann of NJ; two sisters, Audrey Roberts of NC and Evelyn Gutcheus of SC, and a Niece Barbara Piercy of NY; Three grandchildren: Lindsay, Michael and William.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Anne Jackson in 2003.
Services will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hackettstown, NJ on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00. Visitation from 10:30 until 11:00am at the church.
Burial will be private.
