Eleanor A. Burger, age 86, of Stanhope, NJ died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, NJ. Ms. Burger was born February 10, 1932 in Dunellen, NJ. She was the daughter of the late William B. and Hilda (Rebel) Getz.
She was employed by Rockaway Township School District, Rockaway, NJ as the Head Cook for many years. Eleanor was the true matriarch of her family, she lived for her grandchildren, loved to host all the family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and helping her daughter with her floral business.
She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Metzler, Diane Herzog and husband Richard, her sons, Otto Burger, Jr. and wife Jennifer, David Burger and wife Robin, Michael Burger and wife Natalie, her brother, Harold "Butch" Getz and wife Betty, 2 sisters, Elsie Murray, Florence Frosoni, 9 grandchildren, Jean Ellen Ellerbee and husband Shaka, Heidi Schilpp and husband Dustin, Danielle Tiplady and husband Drew, Otto Burger, III, Trevor Knapp and wife Mandy, Melissa Sanchez, Danny Welmon, Grace Honlgsberg, Paul Henry Honlgsberg, 10 great grandchildren, Denzel Vilsaint, Logan Knapp, Elizabeth Tiplady, Henry Tiplady, Brady Knapp, Sterling Schilpp, Conor Knapp, Juliette Sanchez, Conny Sanchez, and Jolan Honlgsberg and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, April 21 at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, 59 Spring Lane, Long Valley, NJ. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.
