Alfred Michael "Bud" Powers, 86, died on Friday November 16, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Frances Powers, with whom he had celebrated 51 years of marriage prior to her death in 2009.
Bud was a graduate of Newton High School and a life-long resident of Tranquility. He had a lifetime love of farming, a wonderful sense of humor and the prettiest blue eyes. He was a past School Board President for Green Township, a talented carpenter and held various jobs with the Townships of Green and Allamuchy. Over the years, his "famous" barbequed chicken with the secret sauce was enjoyed by family and friends and helped the fund raising efforts of many organizations. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends who are thankful for the many blessings, wisdom and joys that he shared with us. He was a loyal friend and a steadfast family man. His spirit will remain with us forever.
Bud was predeceased by his parents, Leona and Robert Powers; a brother, Kenneth Powers; two sisters, Jacqueline Goarcke and Alice Jane Powers.
He will be deeply missed by his loving children daughter Deborah and her husband, Ed, of Saylorsburg, PA; son Doug and his wife, Betty, of Great Meadows; sisters Norma Richline, Evelyn Hausold and Patricia Hart; granddaughter Katrina Powers of Charlotte, NC; grandson Alan Powers and his wife Ashley of Hopatcong; great grand-daughter Allana (born on her great-grandpa’s birthday) and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 from 4PM to 8PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown N.J. 07840. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11AM at Cochran Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows NJ.

Uncle Bud you will be missed!
You and Fran were great next door neighbors.
We have many fond memories thanks to the folks who lived "Across the field".
Who could forget the time you sat in the corn field waiting for our kids and nephews to walk through the rows that Summer night.
Scarred them to death (and my brother too).
We appreciate your many talents; whether farming, carpentry or otherwise!
We will miss your sense of humor that always had everyone guessing
Rest in peace Uncle Bud, You were a great guy and a blessing to those whose lives you touched.
Till we meet again!

Condolences to the Powers family.
Uncle Bud, you will be missed.
A lifetime of memories remain behind, but what I will remember always is the strength of perseverance you had in the face of adversity and that twinkle in your eyes.
