Luke  DeMayo, Sr.
Died: Aug 17, 2017
DeMayo, Sr.
On August 17, 2017 Luke DeMayo Sr was welcomed into Heaven by his wife Geraldine “Gerry,” his parents Peter and Mary, his sister Evie.

Born in New York on October 13, 1921, in his youth Luke resided on Parker Street in the Bronx, that is where he met the girl next door, Gerry.  She was the love of his life and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together in June 2014. Luke loved the time he spent working in NYC and shared many stories of his days at 460 Park Avenue, where he retired after 25 years of service.

Luke and Gerry enjoyed an active retirement in Toms River, NJ. He was a member of the fishing club, baci club, any club that held parties, he was a social butterfly and enjoyed all of the Holiday City activities! His most favorite activity was playing pool, he was the ringer for the Holiday City Berkley pool team and frequently took home 1st place trophies for his 8 ball skills.

You never had a conversation with Luke without him singing a melody, telling a joke, or talking about the Yankees. His garage wall in Toms River was filled with pictures of Yankees old timers, boxing pros, and the Rat Pack.

Luke cherished his family most. He adored his only child Luke Jr, he wanted only the best for Luke and worked hard to make sure he was well educated.   He was so proud when he graduated college as a Chemical Engineer. He always took good care of his son and later in life his son took good care of him.

Luke Jr married Diane and blessed Luke Sr and Gerry with four Grandchildren and their spouses, Keri DeMayo, Melodi Cornetta , Krysti and Matt Mastrolacasa and Christopher and Kelly DeMayo. But to be truthful it was his 6 Great grandchildren who stole his heart, his house was filled with pictures of Cassidy, Christopher, Matteo, Mariella, Layla and Molly.

Luke loved the outdoors, taking walks, his time spent in New York City and the Bronx. In his memory we ask that in lieu of flowers that you make a donation to:

RIP Uncle Luke. Miss and love you. Say hello to the rest of my aunts and uncles up there for me. All of you were the greatest. Thank you for the pizza you spoiled me with when we came to visit on Castle Hill Ave.

I remember the day Barry and I joined you and your dad at a Yankee game. I remember how well he walked the distance from the Lott to yankee stadium without a walker or wheelchair. Hopefully he and my dad are talking about their infamous Yankees. Rest In Peace safely in Jesus arms
