 Mary A. Harrison, age 96, of Morris Plains formerly of Hackettstown, NJ died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Country Home for Seniors.  Mrs. Harrison was born March 7, 1922 in Hackettstown. She is the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Blackwood) Diehl.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years Erving Harrison, her cherished son, Erving “Hooky” Harrison and her 8 siblings. 

Mary was a former member of the American Legion, Hackettstown, NJ, was a Candy Striper for the Newton and Hackettstown Hospitals, she also operated the Hackettstown Seniors Center for many years.  She was inducted into the Hackettstown Seniors Hall of Fame by Governor Jim Florio, was a foster parent to 34 children during her lifetime.  In addition, Mary was a camping enthusiast, was known for her apple pie and loved ice cream gooberies.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael J. Harrison and wife Carol, Jay W. Harrison, her sister, Emma Jane Fenimore and husband Julio, nine grandchildren, Joseph, Eric, Kristopher, Elizabeth, Sean, Sherri, Bill, Tommy, Darby, twenty-two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 19 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Pastor Moya Keating officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Cochran Funeral Home, Inc., 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.

For those desiring donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 299 Cherry Hill Road, Parsippany, NJ  07054 in memory of Mary.

Remembering Mary and the Harrison influence they had on my life..as pop became my grandfather (Etta my grandmother) we met them all.I remember visiting at Mary and erv's with Hooky.I'm 81 now and so glad I have these memories.Bless Mary and all.
