I met Herman 13 years ago when I came to work with the Hackettstown Community Pool as a sub cashier. Herman was the greatest teacher for a new employee to have. He was patient and very gentle. He loved the Pool complex with great pride that was instilled in his heart. He loved his public peers of all ages.I tryly enjoyed all of his stories that he shared with me from the old Hackettstown days. I have soley missed working with Herman the past couple of years as he tried to get better. There is much sadness in my heart in losing a great friend and co-worker. God be with you. Phyllis Hartman

To say Herman was the Head Cashier at the Hackettstown Community Pool does not describe Herman’s role at the pool. He was a great greeter - a true people person. He made all feel welcome and it was important to him that all who passed his cashier’s booth, have a wonderful visit. Herman was truly loved by many patrons and by all fellow employees. He made it a priority to know what was important for the various managers in order for the facility to run smoothly, with safety a number one priority. It was my privilege to work 37 years with a dedicated fellow employee. He will be missed by many. I was blessed to have worked with a lot of outstanding employees, but Herman was at the top of my list. God bless all family, friends, and former pool employees. We are all better for knowing Herman Garris, a truly special person to us all. Nelson Hoyt
