J. Herbert Robertson, Jr. 92, of Hackettstown, formally of Columbus, NJ died on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the House of the Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ. Born on September 22, 1920 in Caldwell, NJ, son of the late J. Herbert, Sr. and Janet C. (Carr) Robertson. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Lois (Kopp) Robertson.
He was employed in the Accounting Department of various manufacturing companies including Drew Chemical Co., Boonton, NJ and Stepan Chemical Co., Maywood, NJ. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WW II from 1942-1945. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hackettstown, NJ and was an active church member of the Butler Methodist Church and Wesley Methodist Church in Columbus, NJ where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was financial secretary and held various other positions for both church's. He enjoyed music, crosswords, reading, bowling and watching baseball.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Marilyn and husband Nasrallah Misk, Jackson Heights, NY and Elaine and husband Richard Warren, Chester, NJ; brother, Bruce and wife Lois Robertson, Ringwood, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Misk and Sarah and Eric Warren; sister in law, Gloria; predeceased by 2 brothers, Richard and Alexander and 4 sisters, Meredith, Madge, Janet and Shirley.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2013, 2:00- 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
Interment will be on Friday, May 3, 2013, with a graveside service at 11:00 AM (Please meet at the cemetery) at Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Road, Totowa, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the House of the Good Shepherd, Shepherd's Fund, 798 Willow Grove St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840 or the Alzheimers Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.
