Learned T. Bulman, age 96, of Hackettstown died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at home in Hackettstown. Learned was born February 23, 1923 in Norwich, CT. He is the son of the late Thomas and Lillian A. (Parker) Bulman. He is predeceased by his brother Vernon Tryon.

He served the U.S. Army from 1943 – 1945. He received an A.B. from Washington & Jefferson College in 1948 an M.S. in Library Science from Columbia University in 1949. He came to the East Orange Public Library in 1951 and retired as Director in 1977. He also worked in the Learning Resources Center at the County of Morris retiring from there in 1983.

A life member of the American Library Assn, He served as Councilor. He was a Past-President of the New Jersey Library Assn., The Little Theatre of East Orange, and the High-Twelve Club of East Orange.

He reviewed for the New York Times, the School Library Journal, wrote articles for several publications, and served as consultant for publishers.

He was Scottish Rite Mason and archivist/librarian for over 25 years for the Morris County Historical Society as well as serving on their Board.

He traveled extensively through the United States, Europe, the Middle East, South America, Australia and New Zealand.

He is survived by one nephew, Barry Parker of Las Vegas, NV.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Hackettstown, New Jersey 07840 in memory of Learned.

Funeral arrangement have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.

Natalia Bykova Hollman of Port Murray, NJ, 37, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Dec. 17th, 2019. Natalia was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia on October 30, 1982. She came to the United States in 2004, met Paul Hollman on Long Island and they fell in love. They were married and lived in Port Murray since 2005. She was an avid runner, She ran in many 5K/10K, half marathon fund raising events across the country for many years. She was passionate about yoga and golfing. She worked at Fazier Industrial for the last 13 years, steadily progressing her career from Order Processing Clerk to Supervisor of Engineering Operations. Natalia touched everyone's lives with her great compassion, intellect, understanding and vitality for life with her family, friends and coworkers. "Natasha" always made time for any and all family events.



Natalia is survived by her husband Paul, their twin boys Michael and Nikolas, her parents Elena Bykova and Alexander Novichkov, grandfather Voldermort Lapin and her in-laws, Joan & Steve Carlucci, Keith & Lina Hollman, Carol & Glenn Shirley, Gary & June Hollman, Robert & JoAnna Hollman, 14 nieces & nephews in the US and 9 cousins in Russia.



Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a viewing, Friday, Dec. 20th from 4-9m at Cochran Funeral Home 905 High St. Hackettstown, NJ. Funeral Service at Our Lady of the Mountain, 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ, Saturday, Dec. 21st at 11am.

Brenda Lee Sargeant, age 72, Hackettstown died Friday, December 13, 2019. Brenda was born January 3, 1947 in Phillipsburg, NJ. She is the daughter of the late John and the late Ada (Sigler) Jacobsen.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, N.J. with Dr. Rev. Frank Fowler officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Timothy S. Ryan, 61, a resident of the Hackettstown area for over 30 years died at his home in Mansfield. He was a native of Camillus, New York where he lived for the first 18 years of his life. An Eagle Scout, Mr. Ryan graduated from West Genesee High School in 1976, having been a drummer in the Wildcat Marching Band, a perennial NY State champion that has won 35 NY State titles over 41 years, as well as the 1976 St Petersburg Festival of States National Field Show and Parade competitions. Upon high school graduation, Mr. Ryan attended the University of Buffalo from which he graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering. In 1974, he met the love of his life, Doreen Longo and after dating for 7 years they married in 1981. The Ryans moved to Budd Lake, NJ in 1982 and Mr. Ryan began a 37-year career at Picatinny Arsenal. During this time, he earned his MBA and traveled the globe supporting many federal military programs, becoming the Chief of Technology Transfer and International Programs for the US Army ARDEC. This work earned him and his team a Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award and he was recognized by ARDEC in 2012 for Excellence in Technology Transfer. Mr. Ryan was also awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal by the Secretary of the Army in 2019 for his outstanding achievements and exemplary performance; the first such honor bestowed on a Picatinny employee.
Away from work, Mr. Ryan was a dedicated family man, raising a daughter (Jessica), a son (Jonathan), and at least a dozen dogs and cats. He enjoyed bicycling, traveling the 275 miles from Hackettstown to Victor, NY with his brother Michael. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, and basset hounds. Mr. Ryan opened his home for family gatherings to celebrate holidays, christenings, first communions, graduations, and after the passing of his mother in 1997, Mr. Ryan’s father Ken was a regular guest. He never forgot a birthday or your special milestone.
Mr. Ryan is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, his daughter Jessica of Queens, NY, his son Jonathan and his wife Danielle of Lebanon, PA, his granddaughters (Emma Lee and Olivia Rose), his brother Keith of Long Valley, NJ, his brother Michael of Victor, NY, 9 brothers/sisters-in-law, and 16 nieces/nephews. Calling hours and a celebration of Mr. Ryan’s life will be held between the hours of 4 and 8 pm on Wednesday December 18th at Cochran Funeral Home 905 High St, Hackettstown, NJ. Norman G. Perrine 72, of Allamuchy Twp. New Jersey passed away at Hackettstown Medical Center on December 9th 2019. Norman battled cancer for over 30 years but past due to a stroke 2 weeks earlier.
Born on November 21, 1946 in Johnsonburg New Jersey he was the son of the late Ernie and Hazel Perrine.
Norman was born a farmer and worked with cows and land his whole life. He always had a soft spot in his heart for animals and many times would bring home a kitten that was cold or sick and nurse back to health.
Norman was employed by Plainview Growers and lived a 1/2 a mile from where he worked as a mechanic and outside caretaker of the horses and Longhorn Cattle which was his favorite part of the job.
Norman is survived by his dedicated wife of 46 years Betty Conover Perrine and son Norman Jr. also of Allamuchy, brother Dorman (Donna), sisters Carol (Rick) Vernon, Dawn (Richard) Kearn, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arthur J. Bundley, the son of the late Robert and Mary Bundley, was born September 13, 1947, Barbour County, Clayton, Alabama. He graduated from Barbour County Training School, Clayton, Alabama and relocated briefly to Chicago, Illinois before settling down in New Jersey. He joined the National Guard in October 1968 until June, 1974. He also graduated from the Institute for Computer Technology in 1971.
On May 13, 1972 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Annette D. Wallace and to this union one child was born, Tammy L. Bundley.
Arthur was a dedicated employee with AT&T for 31 years and retired in 2003 as Staff Manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Bundley and three brothers, Robert, Vance and TR.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 47 years, Mrs. Annette D. Bundley of the home; one child, Tammy L. Bundley of Zebulon, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Ryan, Jazmine and Reagan; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Karsyn all of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lizzie Henry, Peachtree, GA and Mrs. Victoria Walker, Monroe, NJ; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, two God-children, Denise M. Lang and Ryan Deloatch and friends.

Howard R. Pennell, of Hackettstown, NJ Passed Away at Lyon’s Veteran’s Hospital in Basking Ridge NJ on Sunday December 1st following a long illness. Born October 9th, 1947, Howard Grew up in the Landing section of Roxbury Twp and was a graduate of Roxbury High School. Following High School, Howard proudly served his country as a US Marine from 1967-1971. In 1968 Howard was severely injured in the line of duty. After many surgeries and years of rehabilitation Howard was honorably discharged in 1971. Upon discharge Howard enrolled at Fairleigh Dickenson University where he earned Bachelors of Science in Psychology. He later went on to work for the Veteran’s Administration where he helped many other disabled veterans. Howard was a man of faith and religion always looking to help others in need. Even in death Howard donated to the NJ Sharing Network, an organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need.

Howard is survived by his daughters, Barbara Kalmus & husband, Mitch of Long Valley, NJ, Jennifer Gatzke & husband Steven of Hackettstown, NJ, Grandchildren Alexis Kalmus of Durham, NC, Jonathan & Madison Kalmus of Long Valley, NJ & Theresa Trebour & husband Jack of Saylorsburg, PA, and 2 great grandchildren, Jack and Giavanna. Howard is also survived by his brother William of Cibola, Arizona, Kenneth of Pembroke, New Hampshire, Sisters, Anna Dreilling of Crossville, Tennesee, Elaine Werner of Mt. Bethel, PA and Joanne Herrmann of Bunnell, Florida.

Friends & Family are invited to join us for Visit on Friday December 6th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm with the Service stating at 7:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. The burial will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ on Thursday December 12.
