John Thomas Turick Jr., 66, of Long Valley, died Thursday May 24, 2012. John's benevolent character is remembered by his wife of 43 years, Susan Piascik Turick, their three children and their spouses: Dr. John Turick and wife Jessica of Old Lyme, CT, Mrs. Sabrina Turick Bowersett and husband Daniel of Ashford, CT, and Mr. Troy Turick and wife Nicole of Waltham, MA,  and seven grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.  Son of the late John and Mildred Turick of Ansonia, CT, John was born in Derby, CT December 3, 1945, and raised alongside his brother Thomas Turick of Harwinton, NJ and sister Margaret Root of Derby, CT. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT in 1963 where he was part of a state championship football team and held the school record for the 880 yard run for track and field. He went on to pursue a degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1967, and later a Master's in Business Administration from Farleigh Dickenson University in 1974. John retired from his job at Nabisco Food, in East Hanover, in 2001, where he was Project Manager of the facilities department. John can also be remembered for his work within his own community as he served on the Washington Township Zoning Board of Adjustment for close to 35 years. He loved to hunt and fish, and especially loved watching the sunsets on West Hill Lake, CT where he lived in the summer. John will forever be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, gregarious nature, and his devotion to his family and his faith.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 31, 2012, 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840. 

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 1, 2012, 10:30 AM at Our Lady Of The Mountain R.C. Church, Long Valley, NJ 07853.

Interment will be in Our Lady Of The Mountain Cemetery directly following the Funeral Mass.
